Emo music has changed in a lot of ways since the beginning of the genre. Dashboard Confessional, though, holds on to their roots with their new album “Alter the Ending.” The record begins with the calm hit “Get Me Right” and progress with the solid sounds throughout songs like “Everybody Learns From Disaster” and “I Know About You.” “Alter The Ending,” the title track, creates a home in the emotional lyrics that make emo music what it is, a heart wrecking genre of loud noise and crying voices. The album moves through song after song, staying true to their title while still being capable of not sounding generic or repetitious. The true gems, however are on the second disc of the deluxe edition with the entire album recorded acoustically, expressing the real emotion of every high quality recording.
