Usually you can find new musicians hanging out in the dark corners of local coffee shops, bumming on the beach with friends, or sitting around waiting for someone to “discover” them. But unlike the dreamers, student musician Daniel Harrington is stepping to a new tune called college life. Soon to be a San Luis Obispo local, Harrington plans on making a big splash on the rural town’s music scene.
After five years of strumming his beloved guitar, he found a home in writing his own songs, and gaining some local buzz off of his new album titled “Chronicles of Youth.” Harrington wrote his first song, “Sweet Lemonade,” in 2006, and since then has written nine more songs that are featured on the album. With students waiting for its much expected release, Harrington is sure to make local headlines when he hits the stage at Cal Poly in the fall.
“When I go to college I really want to make myself known in San Luis Obispo.”
He is hoping that the distribution of his album will get him gigs and make him known around the community. There are 10 songs on the album, all of which he wrote himself through experiences hes undergone.
“I can’t just be bored and write a song. It usually takes something to happen to me or that I’ve been thinking about for a while to write one.”
